Chrissa Markos was born to a Greek immigrant family in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon completing high school she relocated to Athens, Greece with the desire to deepen her cultural roots and immerse herself in the language of her heritage. Chrissa attended the University of LaVerne in Athens. She went on to teach Greek and English as well as work as a translator for various publications.
While traveling the Greek countryside, exploring remote villages and cultures her interest in photography grew. In 2003 Chrissa returned to Boston and attended the New England School Of Photography in order to kick-start her professional career. Chrissa permanently resides in Boston with her husband and two sons. During the summer months she travels back to Greece, keeping familiar with her heritage and local culture.
